This is my number four choice for Halloween book for kids. On Halloween Night A creepy counting lesson lies before readers who dare to take this picture-book journey through some haunted woods. This is my number five choice for Halloween book for kids. In Scary, Scary Halloween Two green eyes shine in the night sky and someone whispers, "I peer outside, there's something there/ that makes me shiver, spikes my hair./ It must be Halloween." As the unnamed narrator looks on, a skeleton, a ghost, a vampire, a werewolf, witches, goblins, gremlins, a devil and a mummy pass by. The monsters are in fact children dressed up in Halloween costumes, but Brett's pictures are deliciously scary.

7.) Whoo's There
This is my number seven choice for Halloween book for kids. I got Whoo's There for my son when he was 8 months old. He's now 20 months old and this is still one of his favorite books. He loves me to read it to him over and over, although by now I'm sure he knows it by heart. He's loved it from day one. Terrific book. Short and simple.



8.) Clifford's Halloween
This is my number eight choice for Halloween book for kids. There's no denying that kids love Clifford®. The Big Red Dog® has been a favorite since Norman Bridwell created him over 40 years ago. "I was working as a commercial artist in New York City. There wasn't much work, so I made some sample pictures and took them to several publishers. They all rejected my work. But one editor suggested that I try writing a book of my own to illustrate. I had done a painting of a little girl with a big red dog.

9.) Fancy Nancy: Halloween...or Bust!
This is my number nine choice for Halloween book for kids. Fancy Nancy: Halloween...or Bust! Jane O'Connor is the author of more than thirty books for children, including the Nina, Nina Ballerina stories, illustrated by DyAnne DiSalvo, and the Fancy Nancy picture book series.
